University of Kansas Medical Center - Cancer Center

SW Associates is working with RTKL, one of the leading healthcare architectural firms in the US, on the University of Kansas Cancer Center project. SW Associates is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design services for this project in Kansas City, Kansas.

The University of Kansas Hospital will move its outpatient Cancer Center to expanded space on its Westwood Campus, the former Sprint headquarters on Shawnee Mission Parkway.  The Cancer Center’s space will expand from 26,000 square feet at its current location inside the main entrance of The University of Kansas Hospital, to 42,000 square feet at the new 280,000 square feet building.

The Outpatient Services Buildings will include the following departments in addition to the new relocated Cancer Center when completed:

  • Breast Imaging
  • Genetic Counseling
  • Cancer Exam
  • Urgent Care
  • GI-Endo
  • IDS Pharmacy
  • Cancer Exam Clinic
  • Cancer Treatment Clinic
  • Lab
  • Pharmacy
  • Aesthetics Clinic
  • Laser Spa Clinic
The move includes the Breast Center, with all its state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, the endoscopic ultrasound to diagnose digestive track cancers, labs and the private treatment rooms for chemotherapy patients.
