Baylor Medical Center Garland - Emergency Department Renovation

SW Associates was commissioned to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design services for the expansion/renovation of the existing Baylor Garland Emergency Department from 20,300 SF to 24,300 SF on the campus of Baylor  Medical Center in Garland, Texas while maintaining normal day to day operations.  The project cost $10.5 million and makes the Garland Emergency Department the third busiest in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

This expansion/renovation enlarged the department to included twenty-eight (28) new treatment rooms, two (2) radiology rooms, and one (1) CT scanner.

The new expanded emergency department offers advanced technology, equipment and services to support both routine and trauma care:

  • One Definium Rad Room
  • One Proteus Rad Room
  • One CT Scan
  • On-site lab
  • Disaster preparedness components including decontamination rooms, containment room, command center and showers for biological agents.

This expansion gives Baylor Garland the opportunity to broaden its trauma capabilities, expand its minor emergency care center and add additional patient care areas
